Just one of those days!

I truly woke up this morning and thought to myself...this is going to be a great day! HA! Who was I kidding?! I think the most frustrating part about Leila Jane's age right now is the inconsistency. We can have a few great days and nights and I start to believe we are getting into some sort of a routine, then BAM! She gets sick, or she just decides she doesn't want to do things that way anymore. I have to keep telling myself she is only 7 weeks. I'm not even sure I had ventured out of the house yet with Kai at that time. LOL! I also realize that I am VERY fortunate to be able to keep Kai in his full time pre-school program and I can devote 100% of my day to Leila. Some of you are probably wondering why I am paying for someone to watch my kid when I am home. Well, eventually I am going back to work and have you seen the wait lists around here?! I would hate to pull him out and just have to put him somewhere else. He LOVES Goddard and I love what it does for him socially.

This morning was absolutely GORGEOUS so since I can't go to the gym because they won't watch Leila until she is 8 weeks, we went to Fenton Park to walk their 2 mile trail. She loved it and I enjoyed the exercise. We picked Malakai up around 4 and headed home for a few hours of train playing before bed time. THE LONGEST FEW HOURS OF MY LIFE!! On top of the kids being in rare form, my dishwasher is broke, my washer isn't spinning right, and my dryer is taking literally 4 hours to dry one load!!

We started Leila on Zantac a couple of weeks ago due to her constantly spitting up. Now Malakai was a spitter, but I could deal with it. He just lived in a bib 24 hours a day and I never layed him down with out a burp cloth underneath him. However, nothing compares to what Leila can do. For the most part the Zantac has worked miracles, but because she has a cold (which Kai never had till he was 11 months old) I think the mucus is irritating it....which caused exhibit A. That is exactly where she was sitting. Actually, I was on the arm of the couch with her on my lap. She is totally dry because it shot so far out of her mouth that NOTHING got on her! She is totally unphased and I am beginning to be also because it happens SO MUCH! The doctors could care less about it because her weight gain is so great, blah! blah! blah!

So after getting this cleaned up and heading upstairs for some laundry, Malakai starts screaming bloody murder about a blister on his foot while still insisting on "helping" with the laundry. Exhibit B.

Once I had it all doctored up he gave up on the laundry and went to torment Leila. Exhibit C. I figured he didn't throw the shoes at her or she would have been screaming. So, I asked him why his shoes were on his sister and he said because she wanted to wear them and he was sharing. How do you argue with that?

Needless to say, Josh got home and the night ended with Exhibit D. Pump and Dump baby! That's all I have to say. Good Night!

So much for my mini-me!

Everyone swore that when Leila came out of my tummy she looked JUST LIKE ME! I'll be honest, I didn't really see it. But I also didn't see a tiny Josh like I did the second I put my eyes on my precious Malakai. So I thought that maybe they were right. This one does look like me! I'm not sure it's going to last long though. Look at this....

Malakai at 7 1/2 weeks and Leila at 6 1/2 weeks....

Maybe it's just me, but I see them looking more and more like each other every day. Maybe her eyes will stay blue. That's one thing like me. My luck she will just get my awful hair and I will be flat ironing hers from the age of two!

Photo Studio Hell

Well, we did it! On Friday we finally ventured out to the local Kiddie Kandids to get our precious children photographed together. I have been waiting 6 long weeks to do this and couldn't wait to have their unconditional love for each other captured on camera. Riiiiiiiight!! It was pretty much a disaster from the second we woke that morning! My goal was to be at the studio at 10. We made it by 10:30 which I was pretty proud of myself considering Miss Leila likes to eat at the most random times!

So we get there and immediately Josh spots who we will call "Mrs. X." He says, "We want her! She is the one who did Kai and Kiera when I was with Lisa." I instantly think to myself that if this lady can handle Lisa...she must be amazing :) Not sure why, but we were unable to have Mrs. X and wound up with Mrs. F (F because she FAILED).

I have had MUCH experience with Malakai in a photo studio and if there is one thing I have learned it is that he has an attention span of about 15 minutes then he is done! You can get some amazing pics in those 15 minutes, however, once time is up...FORGET IT! So, I have Leila who is getting her individual pics done while Josh is off looking at toys with Kai. I told Mrs. F that I am not picky about having the "perfect" pose. Just take their picture when they are looking at the camera. I don't care if the bottom of their shoes are showing or if they don't have their hand in the right place. She must not have heard me though because she spent 45 minutes trying to get Leila to lay just right. She kept saying "at 3 months she should be able to hold her head better than this." Finally I said, SHE ISN"T 3 MONTHS! SHE'S 6 WEEKS! I can't help it that I have freakishly large children and people always think they are older than what they are. Anyway, as Mrs. X was watching she could see the level of frustration in my eyes and came over to help. She jumped in and snapped two amazing photos and it was time to bring in Kai. Well, I guess I thought that his 15 minutes started when he got in front of the camera, apparently not. It started as soon as we got to the studio because he wanted nothing to do with it. Especially after Mrs. F screams "Work with me here!" at him. By this time Leila is screaming, Kai is telling Mrs. F "NO!" and I am wishing I had taken about 12 Xanax!

We decide to wrap it up and say goodbye. Of course not without letting Kai pick out the toy we promised him if he was a good boy. Neither Josh nor I thought he really deserved a toy, but that's a battle we weren't fighting. Parents of the year right?! I can hear you all right now mumbling, "They shouldn't have gotten him that toy." LOL! I pick and choose my battles :)

There were a couple positives that came out of this experience. One, we got a couple cute pics of Leila and two, there was a lesson learned. I need to speak up! I should have insisted that Mrs. X do our pictures from the beginning. All I had to say was she did them in the past and we were very happy with her work. UGGGH! I could kick myself for not doing that. Oh well, Lesson learned. We shall move on!
