Biggest Loser Update!

The contest has officially been started! As most of you know, I started my diet December 1st with a couple weeks off there for the holiday ;) However, at work, The Biggest Loser contest started on January 08th! The rules go a little something like this. It cost $5 for the very first weigh in. You weigh in every Thursday after that for 12 weeks and it cost $1 every time you weigh in. If your weight stays the same you pay another dollar. If you gain, you pay one dollar for every pound gained. At the end of the 12 weeks, whoever has lost the greatest percentage of their weight wins the entire pot of cash. There are 10 of us participating and it has been great fun!!

My results are as follows:

Week 1: lost 4.8lbs

Week 2: lost 3.2lbs

For a grand total of 8lbs in the first two weeks!! I am so excited! I know it is only going to get harder because of the fact that I have added weights into my workout routine and muscle weighs more than fat, but I am totally okay with that! I have totally given up soda and fast food which is a HUGE accomplishment for me! Everyone participating is doing an AWESOME job and it is definitely going to be a close race.

Josh and I have also started training for our half marathon. I am on an 8 week training schedule right now that should have me ready for our 5 mile run on St. Patricks day. I have never been much of a runner and I have learned that it is a whole nother life style. I have always been an elliptical person when it comes to my cardio, and now that I have switched over to the treadmill every muscle in my body aches. It's a great feeling though and I am optimistic that our St. Patty's day run will be successful. Josh is so funny though. Running comes so easy for him, however, he is going to have to really increase his calorie intake or he is going to shrivel up to nothing after all the running he has been doing! Maybe one day I will actually be able to fit in his jeans!! LOL! Not that I would ever wear them, but I know I will have accomplished my goal if I can wear his skinny ass jeans!

On another note, the kids are doing great! Malakai had his four year check up and passed with flying colors. I was surprised to hear that he was 75th percentile for height and weight. I knew he was tall but the kid is a bean pole!! Seriously, every time he tells us he is hungry we jump because it happens so rarely!! If he asks for a second dinner we give it to him. Sometimes I think he would never eat if we didn't make him! I didn't get to go to the appointment but Josh said he was totally showing off by telling the doctor all of his colors in Spanish. He is currently obsessed with race cars and monster trucks and he starts indoor soccer in two weeks. Mommy is definitely looking forward to that since there are SO many less pads to put on and it's not FREEZING cold in there!

Leila is our little BEAST! She eats all the time and looks like a little football player. She is 10 months and wearing 12-18 month clothes which I'm not even sure are going to still fit her when she turns a year if she continues at the rate she is going! My dreams of a little ballerina are slowly fading and I have a feeling she is going to be an athlete just like mommy and daddy. She loves her nannies Carrie and Sarah which makes going to work much easier and she is a sassy diva who already seems to be talking back. Where she gets the diva attitude I have no idea!!

XOXO,
Miller

Best thing since I last blogged: Fitting into jeans that I haven't been able to since before I had Leila!

Worst thing since I last blogged: Caffeine headaches

Disney On Ice...Worlds of Fantasy

What a great time we had!! We went last Friday night to Disney on Ice and it was absolutely FABULOUS! Our tickets were great, they served beer, and the kids had a ball! My only complaint, if you can even call it that is I wish there was a little more time spent on "Cars" and Lightning McQueen. It did four stories...Cars, Ariel, Lion King, and Tinker Bell. Each one progressively got longer. Actually, Tinker Bell was as long as the first three combined. My nieces went as well, so it was very nice that it had a little bit for everyone!

Beer: $9 (for one)
Cotton Candy (Malakai didn't even know what this was! Totally amazed by it): $12
Cars Hat: $24
Snow Cone: $10

Seeing these faces...

Priceless!!
Never would I leave you without a picture of Leila Jane as well :)

And of course, here is Bella. She is actually sound asleep in this picture. She has yet to destroy anything with those puppy teeth, but we have to watch her like a hawk!!

XOXO,
Miller
Best thing since I last blogged: My TV shows are all starting again! Yeah!
Worst thing since I last blogged: Coldest week since 1969 or something wild like that. All I know is that it is COLD!

A Woman Should Have...

I am posting this poem more so for my self to archive for many, many years. I am sure most everyone has read it, however, I want to make sure I never lose sight of it and the positive message it sends. I especially want to be able to share it with Leila one day.

A Woman Should Have...

enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
something
perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams
wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE
a past juicy
enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her
old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
one friend who
always makes her laugh.. and one who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a good piece
of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her
family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
eight
matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for
a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE
a feeling of
control over her destiny..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to quit
a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend
without;
ruining the friendship...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK
AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents. .

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her
childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she
would and wouldn't do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....
how to live
alone... even if she doesn't like it...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to
go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table..
or a
charming Inn in the woods....
when her soul needs
soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
What she can and can't accomplish in a day...
a
month...and a year.

Bella Rose Miller

Most of you are already aware that we have a new member of the family. Josh FINALLY got his wish and got an Olde English Bulldog! We named her Bella, well, actually Kai named him Bella. We gave him a few names to choose from and that is the one he picked. She is 10 weeks and absolutely adorable!

Oscar has really settled down with his old age (approaching 10) which allowed us to think his body can take another puppy being around. He really has not messed with her at all. He just lays on the couch and grunts at her! I think he is pretty over the fact that Josh and I keep bringing "things" into the house, AKA Malakai, Leila, and now Bella. On a positive note, we are replacing our carpet with wood floors in the spring so I'm not TOTALLY freaking out about the potty training :)

On another note...Happy 2009!! We had a pretty laid back New Years. We went up to KC just for the evening and had a very nice "Christmas" with my Dad, Lisa, and little sister Kiera. New Years Eve was filled with family, games, alcohol, and food. Who could ask for anything more. I have a few resolutions which include re-organizing. This includes my life, house, finances, health, and everything in between. I have let things get a little, shall I say, chaotic! So whats the first thing I do? Those of you who know me can probably guess...I buy some books! Josh seems to think that this helps zero with organizing our house and just adds clutter, but I am really feeling these books! They include:

1. Eliminate Chaos: The 10-Step Process to Organize Your Home and Life

2. The Life Organizer: A Woman's Guide to a Mindful Year

3. 2009 Family Facts Family Life Organizer & Planner

Other resolutions include running a half marathon, maintaining our 1 date night a week, and only taking Xanax on hockey days! LOL!

XOXO,

Miller
